Education and Training

The Risk Pool provides education, instruction, and training to help minimize accidents and damages. All training is provided to the Pool's members free-of-charge. Training topics include Public Works Safety, Confined Space Entry, Excavation and Trenching, Fire Department Liability and Safety, Employment Law Issues, Law Enforcement Liability, Police Emergency Driving, Fire Emergency Driving, Supervisors and Safety, Back Injury Prevention, Accident Investigation and Behavioral Safety, Public Works Driving, Backhoe Operations, Housing Authority issues, and Parks and Recreation.

The Pool also provides tailgate sessions such as Accident Investigation, Supervisors and Safety, Back Injury Prevention, and Driver Training. Driver training programs are provided to all departments and tailored to meet their needs.

Loss Prevention provides "Train the Trainer" programs to help members implement ongoing programs. The Pool's training programs are very popular because they provide up-to-date information in a logical and understandable manner.

Some courses provide certification hours that have been approved by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, State Firemen's and Fire Marshal's Association, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
